CRAFTS INSTRUCTOR TRAINING SCHEME(CITS)
National Skill Training Institute Jamshedpur establis Primary objective of this Institute are to train the Vocational Instructors of various Industrial Training Institutes / Centres and other training establishment.
Training of Craft Instructors is the mandated responsibility of DGT and it has been operational since the inception of the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS). Comprehensive training both in skills and training methodology is imparted to the instructor trainees to make them conversant with techniques of transferring hands-on skills, to train skilled manpower for the industry.

Programme structure :
The duration of crafts instructor training is one year.
Combination of Subjects:
The following subjects are covered
a) Trade Technology (Comprising of Basic & Advanced components of trade practice and theory)
b) Engineering Technology (Comprising of Workshop Calculations & Science and Engg. Drawing) / Vocational Calculation and Science.
c) Training Methodology (Comprising of Teaching Practice and Principles of Teaching)
Start of session: 1st August of every year.
SELECTION : Admission is done through All India Common Entrance Test which is conducted centrally by DGT HQ.
Entrance Examination Fees – Rs. 500/- for General Category and Rs. 300/- for SC / ST candidates
Eligibility for Admission
NCVT certificate in the relevant trade or Diploma / Degree from a recognized Board of Technical Education / University or Equivalent.
Preference will be given to the candidates deputed by Govt. / Pvt. ITIs.
However, private candidates meeting the above requisites are also considered for admission subject to the availability of seats, on order of merit.
Age limit : Minimum 14 years, No upper age limit
Admission & Award of Certificate
Candidates can enroll for the above programmes for one year.
A candidate has to secure 40% marks in each subject of online examination (Trade Theory, POT, WCS and Engg. drawing) and 60 % Sessional marks in Theory & Practicals and also have a minimum of 80 % attendance (per month) to appear the final examination. The final examination conducted by NCVT, New Delhi in June / July every year. On passing the prescribed exam, trainees will be awarded the Instructor training Certificate from NCVT.

Hostel: Moderately furnished limited rooms on share basis with common bathroom facility are available for male trainees only on payment of nominal charges of Rs. 1200/- per year (i.e., Rs. 100/- per month) on first come first serve basis. Ladies hostel is not available.
Medical Facilities: Medical facility is available in NSTI Jamshedpur but treatment cost will be borne by the trainee.
Sports & Games: Playground is available for outdoor Games.
Working Hours: From 09.00 am to 5.30 pm with half hour lunch break on all working days (Monday to Friday).
Attendance : Minimum 80% attendance (per month) is required to appear in the Final Trade Test to be held at the end of the course.
